How can I tell when I'm ready for pointe?

Hey everyone! My name's Rena. I have been doing ballet and tap for a few years now and my tap shoes are bendable in the middle so I can go up on pointe without having to bend my knees. Last year, my mom went to my jazz/ballet/lyrical/breakdance teacher and asked if I was ready for pointe. She said I should wait until I was in eighth grade (at the time, I was in sixth.) Now I am in seventh grade, still doing tap, ballet, and now modern/contemporary, but my dance teacher is giving me pointe turns, and I'm confused. Does she want me to go on pointe, but doesn't want to admit she was wrong about going up until eighth grade? Also, how can you tell when your ankles are strong enough for pointe? I was just wondering. Thanks for all your answers, any will help!

I would also suggest asking her if it looks like you're getting closer to dancing en pointe. I really don't think the whole "wait until 8th grade" thing is always accurate, so it may be that she overcompensated when she was talking about how long to wait, since it primarily depends on bone growth/strength.
You'll know once your teacher tells you xD Just be sure you're not sickling when rising and lowering in your releves (sorry if I misspelled that, lol), as that is a big no-no with pointe shoes.
